My Approach to therapy

I don’t believe one method fits everyone. How we work together depends on what you need and what’s going on in your life. We might look at how you relate to others, how stress shows up in your body, or how past experiences still influence the present. The goal is to understand what’s keeping certain patterns in place and create room for change.

I also understand that our struggles don’t develop in isolation. They take shape over time — through relationships, culture, and the systems we live in, and show up in how we think, feel, and relate.

  • I provide both counselling and psychotherapy. Counselling often focuses on short-term support — working toward specific goals or strategies to help you navigate a challenge or life transition.

Psychotherapy tends to go deeper and usually takes place over a longer period, exploring how past experiences, patterns, and relationships shape the present. In both cases, theories and techniques inform my work, but the relationship matters most.

  • I recognize the unique psychological toll of high-stress, high-impact work and offer a supportive space to process trauma, build resilience, and navigate moral injury for first responders, veterans, journalists, and humanitarian workers. As a journalist and documentarian, I gained firsthand experience working in challenging environments—covering conflict, social justice issues, and stories of resilience throughout the Middle East and North Africa. I appreciate the cultural nuances and complexities of frontline work, as well as the commitment, motivations, deeply held values, and sacrifices it demands.

  • Rural and remote communities encounter many obstacles in accessing mental health resources, alongside challenges related to stigma, isolation, and economic disparities. As a Sunshine Coast resident, I understand the unique difficulties our community experiences and am dedicated to advocating for and supporting the well-being of individuals here and in other rural areas through individual counselling and groups. To help reduce financial barriers, I offer low-cost counselling to a limited number of clients. To learn more please reach out to me through my contact page.
