Who am I?
I’ve been a professional listener for more than twenty years — as a writer, documentarian, and storyteller. That work gave me the privilege of travelling widely, entering people’s private worlds, and witnessing their stories. Along the way, I also met my own messy humanness and worked hard to build a different relationship with myself. It’s been a powerful, ongoing process — one that drew me to support others willing to look closely at theirs.
I have a Masters in Counselling and have received specialized education and training across several therapeutic modalities. See below for more details.

I am a first—and third-generation descendant of Eastern European ancestors (Poland/Serbia). My family story echoes some of what I heard working in the field, particularly the role and impact of generational trauma. So has the recognition of the role institutions, culture, and society play in how people are treated, can access resources, and thrive—a reality that permeates all our stories in different ways.

In 2024, I began working part-time with the Mental Health and Substance Use team at Sechelt Hospital. It’s complex and deeply rewarding work that continues to strengthen my clinical skills and understanding of community mental health.

It’s a privilege to combine my background in journalism with my work in community mental health. I write a monthly column for the Coast Reporter called On Mental Health and contribute photography to The Globe and Mail.
